Overview
“Govt. of India Enterprise Services” exam likely refers to one of two competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC): the Indian Economic Service (IES) examination and the Engineering Services Examination (ESE). While both lead to positions within the Government of India, they serve different professional cadres.
Indian Economic Service (IES) Details
The IES is a civil service that focuses on economic policy and analysis within various government ministries and departments.
Exam Structure and Subjects:
· Written examination:-
The exam has six papers:
o General English (100 marks)
o General Knowledge (100 marks)
o Economics Paper-I (200 marks)
o Economics Paper-II (200 marks)
o Economics Paper-III (200 marks)
o Indian Economy (200 marks)
· Viva-voce: An interview for qualifying candidates (200 marks).
Eligibility Criteria :-
· Educational qualification: A postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Econometrics, or Business Economics from an accredited university.
· Age limit: Generally between 21 and 30, with age relaxations for reserved categories.
Engineering Services Examination (ESE)
The ESE is a standardized test for recruiting engineers into various technical and managerial posts in government departments, including railways, roads, public works, and power.
Exam Pattern:-
· Preliminary exam (Objective):
o Paper-I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 marks).
o Paper-II: Engineering Discipline-specific paper (300 marks).
· Main exam (Conventional/Descriptive): Two engineering discipline-specific papers (300 marks each).
· Personality test: An interview for qualified candidates (200 marks).
Disciplines:
Candidates can apply in one of the four engineering disciplines:
· Civil Engineering
· Mechanical Engineering
· Electrical Engineering
· Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
