Overview

The Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) is an engineering college located in Vellanad, near Trivandrum City, Kerala. The Institute was founded in 2004 by the Space Engineers Welfare Society, which consists of retired scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. In February 2025, a Google reviewer noted that the college had tied up with Leads College of Management and was expanding its offerings.

The campus has a library with a collection of over 25,000 books and a digital library with video lectures from the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). It offers separate hostel facilities for boys and girls and bus services for students and staff. The campus also includes a canteen.

The college provides placement opportunities for students in all departments, with an average package of around ₹2 to 3 lakhs per annum. The computer science department generally receives the most placements, with some students securing packages of up to ₹10 lakhs.  The campus is equipped with various accessibility options, including a wheelchair-accessible entrance, parking lot, seating, and restrooms.

The primary entrance exam for admission to Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) for its undergraduate B.Tech programs is the KEAM (Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam).To be admitted, candidates must register for and appear in the KEAM examination. SIST also offers its own online entrance mock exams to help students prepare for the main engineering entrance test, which began in 2021 and 2022.

Eligibility Criteria for appearing in SIST Exam

1.     Candidate must be Indian citizens. 

2.     Candidate must complete their Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or equivalent. 

3.     Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) must be studied. 

4.     Candidate must have scored

Merit Seats: Minimum 50% marks in Mathematics and a combined 50% marks in Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects. 

Management Seats: Minimum 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together. 

Relaxation: A 5% relaxation is provided for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, while SC/ST candidates only need to pass the qualifying examination. 

5.      A valid score in the KEAM entrance examination is required for admission. 

6.     Candidate must be at least 17 years old. 

SIST Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology does not conduct its own entrance exam; it relies on national (JEE Main) and state-level (KEAM) entrance exams for admission to its B.Tech programs, with the latter being tentative for 2026 admissions. The syllabus for these entrance exams covers topics from the 10+2 level, focusing on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

The institute does not have its own entrance examination; it uses the results of other established exams for admission. 

·         JEE Mains:

Candidates may qualify for admission based on their JEE Main scores. 

·         KEAM:

The Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Entrance Exam (KEAM) is another key entrance exam, with tentative registration in February-March 2026 and the exam in April 2026 for the 2026 academic year. 

·         Syllabus: 

The syllabus for these exams covers subjects typically taught in 10+2 (or equivalent) education.

A strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is essential for the B.Tech curriculum

How to Apply

To apply for admission to Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), you must first have a valid KEAM exam score, as admissions are entrance-based, then visit the official SIST website, fill out the online application form, pay the application fee, and submit it to complete your application process. You may also apply offline by visiting the college campus. 

Steps to Apply Online:

1.     Visit the Official Website: Go to the official website of Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology. 

2.     Find the Apply Online Link: Look for an "apply online" or "B. Tech Admission" link on the homepage and click on it. 

3.     Register and Create a Profile: You will be redirected to the admission page where you need to complete the registration process to create your profile. 

4.     Fill the Application Form: Enter all the required details in the application form, such as personal information and academic qualifications. 

5.     Pay the Application Fee: Pay the stipulated application fee through the available payment options. 

6.     Submit the Form: After filling and paying, submit the application form. 

7.     Keep a Hard Copy: After submission, print and keep a hard copy of the application form for your records.
