About MBBS
The Full Form of MBBS in English means Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. In Latin, it means Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae. But, the latest combined Latin and English version gives us Medicinae Baccalaureus and Bachelor of Surgery, and hence, we have MBBS. This is a degree awarded to students on completion of their graduation from a medical school.
There are a number of ways through which a student can get admission to the MBBS course. But, a necessary condition to be able to practice in India now is the NEET for MBBS. An MBBS course in India is of five years. India has always placed a huge emphasis on education and this holds true for the MBBS course as well. Different countries award the students with different degrees for the same. For example, traditionally, colleges in China awarded students with Bachelor of Medicine (BMED).
On completion of the MBBS internship, the students can get themselves registered as doctors with the Medical Council of India (MCI). They can either apply for a post-graduate degree in medical science i.e. MD/MS or continue working in the health sector as qualified doctors.

MBBS Eligibility
1. The higher secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English at a level not less than a core course.
2. Candidates also need to fulfill the age limit criteria i.e. they must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admissions.
3. As indicated by MCI (Medical Council of India) which is an MBBS authority, there are some additional eligibility requirements.
4. For MBBS Admission 2022, NEET is the only valid MBBS entrance examination that aspirants need to apply for admission to any Medical colleges in India.

Admission Process for MBBS courses in India
1. One of the top courses in India is the MBBS programme offered in medical colleges across India. In India, NEET-UG is the only accepted entrance test and mode of admission for all MBBS courses across the MBBS colleges in the nation.
2. For MBBS admissions through NEET-UG, candidates will be asked to apply for the entrance test within the stipulated date and time. The application forms can be filled in and submitted on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA), examination-conducting body for NEET-UG.
3. With the appropriate NEET-UG admit card in hand along with other important documents, the candidates will be allowed to attempt the entrance test for MBBS.
4. After attempt the entrance test, the NEET-UG results will be released and then merit lists containing the names of all candidates in the order of merit.
5. Candidates can opt for applying for AIQ and/or State Quota, wherein, they will be able to apply to the medical colleges across India or in their respective choice of state. The Medical Counselling Committee will release the AIQ merit lists of all candidates, meanwhile, the Directorate of Medical Education of each state will release the merit lists pertaining to the respective states alone.
MBBS Admission Procedure
Admission to MBBS to the remaining 85% state quota seats in government colleges and all seats in private institutes will be conducted by respective state authorities.
The counselling for MBBS admission can be conducted in offline or online mode. During state counselling of MBBS admission, candidates will have to register, fill choices of courses and colleges, and undergo document verification.
In addition to state quota seats, MBBS admission to 100% seats in private colleges in the respective state will be conducted by state authorities.
