NTSE (National Talent Search Examination)
Overview
National Talent Search Examination NTSE is conducted by NCERT, National Council of Education Research. Its main purpose is to identify and support talented students through scholarships. As per the latest revision in 2012, NTSE is conducted for Class X students of recognized schools, under 18 years of age. The examination consists Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT). These exams are conducted in two stages
· Stage I: Conducted by State / UT level examination boards.
· Stage II: Conducted by NCERT.
NTSE Scholarship
This Scholarship is awarded to students who qualify in both stages, with amounts of Rs.500/- per month varying for different academic levels (Class XI-XII , undergraduate and postgraduate) except for PhD., wherein it is paid as per UGC norms.
The Scholarships under current scheme are awarded to the candidates for perusing courses in science and social studies up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second degree level subject to fulfillment of terms and conditions of the scholarship. A certain percentage of scholarships are reserved for students belongings to SC,ST, and OBC categories ,as well as for students with disabilities.
