Rashtriya Indian Military College Admissions 2026:

According to a recent circular released by the Directorate of Education, applications are invited for admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, for the academic year 2026.

The entrance examination is scheduled for December 7, 2025 in Delhi. Students can apply by submitting the prescribed application form available here. Classes will begin in July 2026.

Known as one of India’s premier military feeder institutions, RIMC opens admissions twice a year  January and July and offers a rigorous academic and military foundation for young aspirants.

Eligibility Criteria

Age : According to the circular, candidates must be at least 11 and a half years old but not older than 13 years as of July 1, 2026. This means that only those born between July 2, 2013, and January 1, 2015, are eligible to apply..

Education : They must be either studying in Class 8 or have passed it from a recognized school as on July 1, 2026.

Gender : The applications are invited from both boys and girls.

Application Process 

1. Interested students must complete the application form available online and submit it along with the required documents to the Education Cell of the Directorate of Education via post. The deadline for submission is October 15, 2025.
2.  Applicants can also request the form and a booklet of past question papers by sending a written request with a demand draft of Rs. 600 to the examination cell. For students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST), the demand draft amount is Rs. 555, and they must also attach their caste certificate.

RIMC Entrance Exam pattern

The written exam for the July 2026 term will be held on December 7, 2025.

Subjects & Marks Distribution

·         English – 125 marks

·         Mathematics – 200 marks

·         General Knowledge – 75 marks

·         Medium: English or Hindi (except English paper).

·         Qualifying Marks: 50% required in each subject.

Viva (Interview)

Shortlisted candidates from the written test will appear for a 50-mark interview that evaluates personality, confidence, and communication. A minimum of 50% is required to qualify.

Medical Examination

Candidates who clear the interview undergo a medical test at designated military hospitals. Only medically fit candidates will be admitted.
