Bachelor of Physical Education is an undergraduate academic course dealing with the development and care of the human body. The course revolves around one's physical as well as mental well-being and fitness. B.P.Ed Course offers a good career choice because the global sports industry is growing at a rapid pace and is worth USD 620 Billion. Eligibility Criteria for B.P.Ed.
1. The course is offered to the students who have qualified for their 10+2 examinations with a minimum of 50% marks.
2. The course duration is 3 to 4 years. Candidates should have obtained a minimum percentage in Class 12 (usually 45 percent - 60 percent) as stipulated by the university/college in which they are seeking admission.
3. Preference at the time of admissions is given to candidates who have played some sports at the school level or had physical education subjects in Class 12.
Admission Process
1. Admission to the B.P.Ed. programme is done through a combination of physical, fitness and academic tests. Students who have passed the exams of class 12 can apply for the programme.
2. Academic Test: A general English test is conducted for aspiring candidates. Candidates have to secure at least 40% marks in order to be considered for admission.
3. Physical Fitness Test: Different physical pursuits are conducted for boys and girls in order to test their physical abilities. Candidates who will score 50% or more on this test will be considered for admission.
4. Game/ Sport Playing Ability Test: In this test, a candidate is assessed for anyone sport or a game of his/ her choice.
Career after B.P.Ed.
Candidates who have pursued B.P.Ed courses can take up different types of jobs in the field of sports. Jobs for providing physical training are available in schools and colleges. Apart from this, B.P.Ed graduates are also hired by various sports clubs and sports teams to provide training to aspiring individuals.
A physical Education Degree enables a person to be employed in government sector enterprises or with the private sector that they represent in the sporting event/game in various tournaments and matches.
