B.Tech Food Technology is a four-year undergraduate course. B.Tech Food Technology is a science branch that deals with the techniques involved in the production, processing, preservation, packaging, labeling, quality management, and distribution of food products. The field also involves techniques and processes that are used to transform raw materials into food.
B.Tech in Food Technology is an undergraduate program which is of a total of 4 years duration, divided into 8 semesters. This course provides the students with a curriculum of the specialized concept of Food Technology and Engineering with in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Food Science concepts. Graduates or postgraduates in the course can seek jobs in different domains such as restaurants, catering establishments, hospitals, food processing companies, etc.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Food Technolo
1. B.Tech Food Technology eligibility criteria for admission differ from college to college, there are certain minimum eligibility criteria which the candidates must fulfil for admission.
2. The candidates must have passed 12th or an equivalent degree from a recognized institute/board.
3. The candidate must have Mathematics and Physics, optional subjects as Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology.
4. To pursue a food technology course at the postgraduate level, candidates should possess a BSc (in Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry) or BTech/ BE (in food technology) degree with the minimum qualifying marks as prescribed a university/ college.
Admission Process
1. There were different entrance tests that were conducted for admission in B.tech in Food Technology previously like AIEEE, NIT, IITJEE.
2. All of the national tests have been merged into a single national entrance test which is IITJEE. IITJEE takes place in two steps, that is JEE Main and JEE Advanced.
