History
Govt. Polytechnic, Gaya was established by the act of Govt. of Bihar in the year 1960, constituted to work under Department of Science and Technology.
Govt. Polytechnic, Gaya is situated at the place of enlightenment of “Lord Gautam Buddha” and is a holy place where foot marks of “Lord Vishnu” is placed in the sacred “Vishnu Pad Mandir”. The City of Gaya, where the institute is located is the place of “spiritual harmony and a divine enlightenment”.
The institute is one of the fastest growing technical institutes in Bihar. It is a fully government institution managed by the Govt. of Bihar under administrative control of department of Science and Technology, Government of Bihar. The college is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Bihar, Patna. Govt. Polytechnic, Gaya presently offers diploma courses in five streams of engineering, Civil Engg., Computer Science and Engg., Electrical Engg., Electronics Engg. and Mechanical Engg. Some vocational, short term courses for skill development and employment generation in the field of technical educationis also conducted in the institute which is scheduled and notified from time to time, such as IRG, CDTP and several other skill development programs, a women industrial school (WIS) is also being run in the institution with several courses.
