Volgograd State Medical University

Volgograd State Medical University (VolgGMU) is one of the oldest universities in the hero city of Volgograd. It was created in 1935 as the Stalingrad Medical Institute. In 2012 VolgGMU became one of the largest among medical and pharmaceutical universities in Russia, in terms of the number of students at various levels.

Volgograd Medical University is an integral complex of continuing professional education, which trains specialists of junior and middle medical level, doctors of various specialties, pharmacists and pharmacists, social workers, clinical psychologists, engineers for biotechnical systems and technologies, managers for the healthcare system, geneticists and biochemists ... The university has two preparatory departments: one for Russian students, the other for foreign citizens. University graduates can continue their studies at the faculty of postgraduate professional education (residency, postgraduate study, doctoral studies), and at the faculty of advanced training for doctors - to take retraining and advanced training courses.

Volgograd State Medical University is both a research, innovation and production center. At the university, within the framework of the regional chemical-pharmaceutical cluster, as its scientific core, the Scientific Center for Innovative Medicines (NCILS) with pilot production was created. In the chain of university departments today, the NCILS is a fundamental link in the development and creation of new drugs and substances. There are three small innovative enterprises operating at the university. One of them produces products that are successfully used both for cosmetic purposes and in balneological practice. All drugs produced in the departments of Volgograd State Medical University are the development of university scientists (chemists and pharmacologists), many of them are awarded at the federal level, have awards of the President of Russia, honored scientists and honorary titles.
