Government Polytechnic, Bhagalpur was established as Bhagalpur School of Engineering with aim of providing quality higher education in the field of Engineering & Technology on par with National Standards. It persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of higher education on a consistent basis.The Institution was established on 31st May 1955 with its name Bhagalpur School of Engineering under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Bihar which was later rechristened to its present name.Initially Institution was started with Diploma in Civil Engineering with 30 intake capacity, which was later increased to 60.Diploma in Agricultural Engineering was started in 1977 with 20 intake capacity, which was later increased to 30.In 1992, Diploma in Textile Technology & Textile Design was started with 30 intake capacity and the branch was renamed as Diploma in Textile Engineering in the year of 2008.Two latest and employment generating Diploma in Electronics Engineering and Diploma in Computer Science & Engineering were commenced with intake capacity of 60 each.
